Sometimes, office friendships are great. Infact, according to Glassdoor, 51% of employees say they have a best friend at work.
But, one common scenario we don’t talk about enough on these corporate streets is when one friend is promoted and expected to manage the other.
If you suddenly become your friend’s boss, there are a few new dynamics that could potentially lead to friction:
Your friend doesn’t take your directives seriously
They are too candid at team meetings because they know more details about your personal life than others on your team
They expect you to give them a raise because you’re, well, friends
What to do? Fire them.. nonsense and ingredientzzzzz!
